It is all too common as a wedding planner that I hear potential and future clients lament about the cost of a modern-day wedding. Some wedding professionals are in denial of this but there is no way around it, weddings are expensive. Sticker shock can be a very real thing when planning a wedding.

Weddings are expensive because:

• It is a once in a lifetime event (so you hope)
• Weddings are emotional events, a lot of time, effort and dare I say, drama can be involved in working with brides, grooms, their wedding party and family.
• As a vendor, you only have one shot to make things perfect– it’s one day, one first kiss, one first look, one first dance, one cake cutting and so on and so on. It is high stakes and that is why a wedding will cost more than an anniversary or birthday party.
