Brides are not required to pay for their bridesmaids’ dresses but if you have your heart set on a designer gown and it is way out of reach for your friends, consider whether or not there is room in your wedding budget to pay for it. If not, consider paying for half. Also consider mitigating expenses in other ways. If your bridesmaids are buying their own dresses, don’t make them buy jewelry and shoes too– allow your bridesmaids to wear jewelry or shoes from their personal collection or offer to pay for it.
By communicating openly with your bridal party and being willing to compromise, this will make for a happier bridal party and a happier bridal party means less stress and drama for the bride and groom.
